Arranging your invitations

Creating a wedding invitation is not as easy as it seems. Enclosures or inserts of a wedding invitation can come in any type and it needs to be placed in the invitation.

The wedding invitation as well as the insertions follows a specific manner and cannot be inserted in any way you want to.

The printing of the envelope where the invitation and enclosure has been placed and the back of the envelope should be face up. In case of a multiple fold, the enclosures should be placed inside the first fold, with the printed side face up.

All enclosures are placed on top of the invitation with the most important on the bottom and the least important on top. For example:

1) Wedding Invitation
2) Reception invitation
3) Response card envelope
4) Response card
5) Inside-the-ribbon cards
6) Directions
7) Map

When an inner and outer envelope is being used, place everything in the inner envelope first. The inner envelope must be inserted in the outer envelope with the writing facing the back flap of the outer envelope.

Bear in mind that all envelopes must be hand-written.

Dispatching the wedding invitation is also governed by etiquette. Here are some tips to send out your wedding invitation.

How To Send The Invitations:

All wedding invitations should be sent either through mail or post even if the invitation is to be sent to the neighbor or even your parents.

All invitations should not be hand-carried.

Sending the invitations by courier is another option if you are not comfortable with sending by mail. Although more expensive, there are no post-office markings on the invitations.

Timeline For Mailing Invitations:

Mailing of invitations should be at least 8 weeks before the wedding and not later than six weeks.

For out-of-town guest, mailing should be ten weeks ahead of the scheduled wedding. . This gives the guests ample time to schedule their trip, make proper bookings, take their leave from work and prepare everything to attend the wedding.

Useful Tips For Dispatching Wedding Invitations

To get an idea on the postage requirement for each invitation, assemble one invitation and bring it to the post office for weighing and sizing.

Ask the post office to hand cancel the wedding invitations if possible. This ensures that no ugly and undesirable markings are left on the invitation.

Proper Etiquette can help ensure that your wedding invitations are complete and reaches its desired target without causing any confusion.
